A New Milestone for Alexandrea Winery: Introducing Our First Pinot Noir
Every winery has certain wines that define a chapter in its journey. For Alexandrea Winery, the release of our first Pinot Noir marks one of those moments.
Known throughout the wine world as one of the most demanding and expressive grape varieties, Pinot Noir is often described as a wine that reveals the true character of both the vineyard and the winemaker. Delicate, precise, and highly sensitive to its environment, it rewards patience, attention, and craftsmanship unlike almost any other variety.
Today, we are proud to introduce Alexandrea Pinot Noir, a wine that reflects not only the elegance of this celebrated grape, but also the unique potential of Armenian terroir.
Why Pinot Noir?
Pinot Noir has long fascinated winegrowers and winemakers around the world. Its thin skin, early ripening cycle, and sensitivity to climate and soil make it both challenging and rewarding to cultivate.
For Alexandrea Winery, the decision to plant and produce Pinot Noir was driven by a desire to explore new possibilities within Armenia's wine landscape.
As founder Adam Kablanian explains:
"Pinot Noir requires precision, patience, and exceptional attention to every detail. Yet it is exactly this delicacy and complexity that make it so unique. At Alexandrea Winery, we wanted to create an Armenian expression of Pinot Noir that brings together elegance, balance, and the distinctive character of Armenian terroir."
The result is a wine that stays true to the essence of Pinot Noir while expressing the individuality of the land where it was grown.
Born in Armenian Terroir
At Alexandrea Winery, every wine begins in the vineyard.
The grapes behind Alexandrea Pinot Noir are grown in the winery’s Proshyan vineyards, where high-altitude terrain, volcanic soils, and Armenia’s distinctive climate shape the character of this noble variety. These unique growing conditions allow Pinot Noir to develop remarkable elegance, freshness, and complexity while preserving its varietal identity.
Warm, sun-filled days and cool nights allow the grapes to ripen gradually, preserving freshness while developing depth, aromatic precision, and balance. The result is a Pinot Noir that is expressive, refined, and unmistakably connected to its place of origin.
A Wine Defined by Balance
In the glass, Alexandrea Pinot Noir presents a bright ruby color and an inviting aromatic profile.
Notes of ripe red cherry and subtle raspberry are complemented by delicate hints of toasted oak, sweet spice, and light vanilla gained through barrel aging.
On the palate, the wine is dry and refined, with vibrant acidity, silky tannins, and a harmonious structure that carries through to a long, elegant finish.
The result is a Pinot Noir that combines freshness and finesse with depth and character, remaining true to the philosophy that guides everything we do at Alexandrea Winery: Balance in All Things.
International Recognition from the Very Beginning
Even before its official release, Alexandrea Pinot Noir received international recognition. At the 2026 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, one of the world's most respected wine competitions, Alexandrea Pinot Noir 2024 was awarded a Gold Medal. For a winery's first Pinot Noir, this achievement carries special significance. It validates years of dedication in the vineyard and winery and reinforces our belief in the remarkable potential of Pinot Noir in Armenia.
A New Chapter for Alexandrea Winery
The introduction of Pinot Noir represents more than the launch of a new wine. It reflects Alexandrea Winery's ongoing commitment to innovation, quality, and the exploration of Armenia's diverse terroirs. As our journey continues, we remain focused on crafting wines that honor tradition while embracing new possibilities.
The release of Alexandrea Pinot Noir is not only a milestone for our winery, but also another step forward for the growing story of Armenian wine.
